I have had it with Craftsman because the return policy stinks. Every time I return a tool Sears gives me a hard time and last week it was the last time for me. I looked at Husky Pro @ Home Depot and you get one year that you can return a broken tool then you have to send it away. Kobolt said there return policy is changing soon and you will have to send it away for replacement. I want to look at NAPA we purchased some tools there and the return was very good no questions! Has anyone used NAPA Tools?
I have craftsman that iused when i worked in dealerships in the late 70,s and was still using them when i closed my tire store last mo. ( i kept my hand tools) I have snapon .hf,and a lot of others I have some sk but if they brake i have to send them in because the stores that handled them changed the brands they carry.
i'm interested in hearing about napa as well. I don't break many tools though...if i did i would spend the $ for mac or snap-on as it's the process of breaking them that we usually get broke in some way.
Depends on what it is. Most of their stuff is made by higher-end companies, but most of it is expensive.
You can still get Husky online, or Kobalt at Lowes for less than Napa branded stuff.
craftsman is awesome, break it and take it back that same day. being tools **** me off and i throw them across the yard because they dont do what i want them to do, i use target brand, wallmart, 99 cent store tools. you know "high grade" stuff.
Guys ,
I did buy a cobalt set from Lowes, it was a packaged set of wratcheting wrenches with some adapters you put in either the 10mm or the 12 and it made them ratchets you could add sockets to...neat kit.has all sorts of bits allen torq, was about $40.00 I couldn't pass on that one and a set of metric sockets too...close out 6 point for $20.00...ya got to be there for the bargains....

I have a few NAPA sockets and wrenchs as they all seem to be made by Danaher. They seem to be VERY similar to Craftsman Pro which is also Danaher. I could be wrong, but I think that they are both the same thing with different markings.
I have spent three nights looking at tools and I went to Home Depot,Lowe's and Napa and I have to decide between Blue Point or Kobolt. The replacement is much better than Home Depot sending broken tools in the mail to be replaced. Napa tools for the money did not look good. Not much chrome looks cheap!
I mostly have Stanley stuff. I think it's the best value for my shadetree stuff. Craftsman and Snap On are great but way too overpriced for what I need them for, especially Snap On. It's good stuff but too rich for my purpose. Plus, all I have to do is run down to Wally World if something breaks.
I had a $5 set of sockets and a rachet given to me when I first started out. That stuff have probably been the least problematic of any tools I have owned.
Guys,
This thing is so subjective that we could go on and on and gaining a concensus will be impossible. The most important thing is to have the tool the right tool to get your intended job done.what ever the cost ,value, how ever you guage it. It don't matter what is on the handle if it doesn' meet your expectations,budget...or appearance{I guess I had to go there}
So that we may keep our rides in top tune.....or restoration....or what ever....the right tool for the job. Home workers that generally dont depend on their tools to make a living dont need to invest in a complete pro set of tools, I mean it doesn't make sense for a fellow who changes his oil,or plugs ,or does some light appearance mods to own a complete Snap On set nor does it make sense for a fellow on commission to spend his tool dollar on wally world,or tools at a store that may changge brands at the whim of a manager in another town. {this happened to a store where they carried New Brittain,great tools but with no service or replacement ,what good are they?} HEY enough of this talking/typing crap, I'm going out to the "Old Guys Garage" and get ready for my next project....

I looked at Husky Pro tools and they are very nice but BLACK I don't like black there are too many dark places for them to get lost. Wednesday night I will be looking at Kobolt. I have a large set of Craftsman tools to sell soon and I want to replace them with a better return program. This is a big decision and thank you all for the help!Sears has pissed me off and at my age I can afford to change out what I have to get rid of the crap I get from Craftsman tool return.
