I would like to put headers on my 1987 Ford F150 XLT Lariat with a EFI 5.0L 302. Could anyone recommend any particular brand??? I don't know whether O2 sensors are an issue. Do you?
get some header reducers that have the O2 sensor bung installed already or do like me and by some bungs and weld them where u want...I mounted mine on the biggest part of the header by the reducer....make sure to buy some good gaskets
i had headers on my 90 f150 302. they were shorty tube headers and they didnt last very long like two years before they rusted out if ur gona put on headers make sure there stainless so they dont rust through there a pain to get off when there rusted. oh and for the 02 sensor i mounted mine in the balence pipe that runs between the y pipes works fine there.

I have the cheap Summit shorty headers(which are made by Flowtech) on my truck but I would suggest the MAC performance equal length coated headers, part # 9358690 for $229.50. They are comparible to Bassani headers for less $$. I am going to replace my headers with these plus my Y-pipe with the Bassani Y-pipe w/ converter. Their website is www.macperformance.com
Bassani makes the best units for the 87 F150 with the 5.0. I tried the summit headers, BBK and ended up getting the Bassani equal length. I bought the Bassani Y-pipe to go with them as well. None of the headers would work with the stock Y-pipe. I put a Flowmonster high flow cat after the Y-pipe into a flowmaster super 40 3" inlet and daul 2.5 inch outlets and ran dauls out behind each rear wheel.
I tried all kinds of setups with no cats, different mufflers trying to get a great sound. You just can't get the kind of sound I am looking for out of the 5.0 with a Y-pipe. I am really happy with the system now. It is really quite but it sounds great.
I did all of mine after rebuilding the entire truck. I went from around 11MPG on a 200k mile 302 to 17MPG on my new setup. I don't have overdrive, c-6 with 33x12.50x15's and 3.33 gears. I am very happy. I get 12 in town now.
