Alternator rebuild
I have a 94 f-150 with a 95amp alternator. It is really starting to squeal when idling. I think the bearings/bushings are going out on it. How hard is it to rebuild one and where can i get the parts?

Most auto parts stores will have a rebuild kit. I think all you do is knock out the old bearings, replace the brushes and put it back together. In my home town, the local alternator shop will rebuild most alternators for $20 parts and labor (takes them about 15 minutes). You may just want to check and see if there is a local shop in your town and see what they would charge. Take it out and take it to them of course.

Most parts houses will have a rebuild kit for around $40. I actually used another alternator that I got when I bought mine for the bearings I needed. Might not hurt to clean it out inside when it's apart as well.....
