Its been a little chilly up here in Fargo, between 0 and -12 degrees for the last couple of days. I seem to have forgotten how cold that actually is until recently. You know its cold when you can't breath through your mouth without warming up the air first.
It also brings out the weak batteries on campus here along with showing people that crappy jumper cables just aren't large enough wire to jump a car in this. I helped out a couple of people who were using too small of a set of jumper cables and managed to flood their car. I threw mine on there, idled up to 1500 rpm and had them put the pedal to the floor and she fired right up.
I guess this cold weather isn't such a bad thing after all.
We usually only get into the low twenties on the coldest nights here, but we dipped into the teens the last couple of nights and pipes that are usually okay have been freezing up. The PO of this property did some nightmare plumbing here and we're still finding breaks in pipes in interesting places. Just got the water back on after a day and a half, still trying to figure out just where everything is that still needs to be insulated.
So much getting anything else done this weekend...!
I know you don't want to hear this but maybe you should move south...I'm in Myrtle Beach right now & we are all walking around in bathing suits.
RE: cheapo jumper cables...I had a quality set one time & was trying to jump a very dead van battery....had the cables on the seat & was sitting on them.....YOW!....those suckers got HOT!!!
