Drivetrain Identifaction 57-60 F100

I have just rembered and been told to take a truck which I think I may restore, it is between a 57 and 60 SWB F100, has a straight six and most likley a manual transmission, my question is, what would be in it for a transmission(shift on the tree or floor?) and rear end(what model)? I haven't looked at the truck in 3 years, it is parked behind a barn in a manure pile, has no glass, carb. or rad, but has good chrome, and all of the tires still hold air, and the box still has a good floor, so I think I might have a chance of fixing it.
Thanks in advance.

The engine would be a 223 the tranys could be a T98A 4 speed or one of 3 speeds. the rearend would be either a 9" ford or a Spicer 44 (Which is a Dana 44 now). If it is a Spicer it is a limited slip. The 223 had a HP rating of 139@4200.
If you want to restore to original the engine will be pricey. I have a 60 F100 with 223/T98A that I pulled and I am putting a 302 C/6 in. As far as rust check the bed beneath the tail lights and the front fenders just infront of the doors, also check the floor board next to the kick panels these are places they usually rust. If it is a 60 email me the info from teh data plate and I'll decode it with my manual. Good Luck.

I'm going to look at the truck saturday, its 223 is more than likley seized, and I have I have a '82 300 I-6 that is in the process of being rebuilt, would it be possible to bolt it in(bellhousing, motor mounts etc.),or would I be better off getting a V8 for it? I think I remember reading that these trucks had pretty low gearing, just how low is it? How do I tell what year it is, is it stamped on the VIN tag, and if so where is the tag located?
