I've noticed a leak on my 2000 7.3 6spd which up until now hasn't been dripping. It's dropping down between the transmission cover and the oil pan. It seems to be originating somewhere below and in front of the turbo below the intercooler tubes. I can see a small puddle(yes, puddle....) up under there. Still new to this engine so any ideas what this might be? Doesn't look to be as thick as oil, maybe fuel? I'll keep an eye on the mileage and oil level to see if that shows anything.
Sounds like the fuel drain orings to me. It is located at the rear of the fuel bowl. Clean the valley and bowl area up and see where the leak is originating from Sometimes the bowl cap ring can leak too. At any rate, it needs a good cleanup not only to determine the cause but also to verify the repair.
Just finished fixing mine...same symptoms. The o-rings in the hoses from your HPOP (High Pressure Oil Pump) have most likely gone bad because of the new ULS Diesel. You'll find the two fittings directly under your fuel filter at the front of the engine. There's also a drain plug in the back of the HPOP that should get a new o-ring as well. Use GOOD QUALITY o-ring replacements or you will be back under there again soon.
I didn't have the release tool so I used a flat chuck wrench from my router (1/8" thick with roughly 9/16" opening) to pop the lines off the fittings. Tool is inserted at a 90 degree angle between the rubber collar and the hose to "release" the ring inside the fitting.
