In need of some new work boots and can't seem to find the right ones. Current pair are Brownings and they are the only ones to ever last me 2 years. In the past I have owned Red Wings and they did not last as expected for the price and I absolutely refuse to but another pair of Rocky's, last pair were junk!!! They leaked very quickly and the inside kept pulling out. Looked at the Danners, they were pricey but comfortable and seemed to be made good. Also did you know the pair I looked at were made in China and cost $205 the ones made in the U.S. were $327 store clerk said that they had not sold one pair since they opened. Any input appreciated.
Have you tried or thought about Wolverine? I had a pair of those and gave them to a buddy of mine and bought a pair of Redwings. The RWs lasted long enough to pay for themselves and than some but after about 6 months and every 6 months after I would have to put in another insole. I will get another pair of Wolverines next time.
white boots real pricey but all of the forest fire fighters I know wear them. I haven't bought a pair in about 20 years so not too up to speed on the price any more, the last pair I bought was in '93 and they were about $250.00 they were back then custom made to your feet. http://www.whitesoutdoor.com/
I've always worn Dr. Martens steel-toes. They are incredibly comforatable, strong as they get, and have a sole that is slip resistant on most slimy liquids, like oil. If they ever bust, you can send them back, and they repair them, and ship them back to you. They were developed for British soldiers in WW I
I like Caterpillar work boots, I've had real good luck with the 2 pair I've owned.
The ones I've tried that didnt cut the mustard: Rocky. Diehard. Magnum. Wolverine.
Dr.Martens.
Also, I'm a pretty huge fan of good ole combat boots. And Harley boots seem to wear pretty well. But I don't work in them either.. haha.
I work on the railroad and i wear red wings. They are the best work boot out there had mine for like tw years now. Other guys have had theirs almost twenty years with little or no problems
I've had good luck with Wolverine. I make sure I buy the ones made in the USA. The Chinese made ones don't last. The USA made ones cost about twice as much as the others but its worth the difference.
I used to wear them a long time ago when the traveling sales rep would stop in. I thought they were great. Haven't seen one of those guys in nearly 20 years and my last pair wore out a long time ago.
But they were great.
Thanks for reminding me of them, I need some new work shoes.
I found thier website so I'll get some soon.

DEFINATELY look into Whites, if you can afford them. If you can, you wont regret it. They are the most comfortable boot out there, and they will last for many years. When they wear out, you just send them back to Whites Boots in Spokane Washington for a rebuild. The cost of a rebuild is probably comparable to the cost of a cheaper pair of boots, but you get back a virtually new pair of Whites, one of the finest quality and comfort boot on the market.
You only need to make the investment once.
Use the link below to see what they have. If you want support and comfort, go with Whites. http://www.whitesboots.com/
Drews Boots are also supposed to be good (made by an ex-whites employee).
Another to consider is Hawthorne (a cheaper line of whites).
I wear Whites Smokejumpers (but there are other styles available). Once they are broke in and shaped to your foot, they are like taking off a pair of running shoes at the end of the day. Therefore, I am spoiled. I can't wear Red Wings anymore. My feet feel like they've been run through a meat grinder at the end of a long day after wearing Red Wings.

I've got the chinese Danner's, and I love 'em. 6" Instigators with rubber over the toe. I work in an phosphoric acid plant, so I go through alot of boots - about 1 pair every 9 months. The company pays for my shoes, so price isn't a big deal. Red Wings are okay, but I like the Danner's big toe box (lots of room up front). My $0.02......
I have Irish Setter (made by red wing) I really like them. Very comfy! I always get Gore tex boots. I work in a wet environment. They last me about a year with no wet feet. They get wet on a daily basis.

They must not do much walking or much of anything else in them.
I'm not easy on my boots, they endure mud, water, concrete and anything else encountered on the construction site, plus they have my 260 pounds to deal with walking 2-4 miles a day in them.
The first pair of Redwings I had lasted about 4 years, but most of that time I was operating equipment. Second pair lasted 9 months and two seams on each boot gave out, plus the soles are so soft that they wore down to nearly nothing in the same amount of time. Also, insoles only lasted 3-4 months a set. I now wear CAT boots and really like them. They have lasted much better than the second pair of Redwings, I've owned them about as long as I wore the Redwings, the insoles still look like new and the soles aren't nearly as worn out. For the money, I can buy 2 pairs of CAT boots for the same money as one pair of Redwings.
