pulled the plug off like the post said, awesome! Quick, like 5 minutes. And it can be easily put back if someone insane bought the truck after me and wanted that noise again.

quik question

Even though I have a keypad entry does disconnecting the wire to defeat the dreaded dinging also affect whether the doors lock with the keys in the ignition?

Thanks
Dave

Dave, if you disconnect the wire as shown above you cannot lock the doors with the interior lock button while the doors are open, it will automatically unlock. The only way to lock the doors afterward is by pressing down the plastic plunger up by the window manually, or by shutting the door and then using either the keypad, or your keykess entry keyfob. I personally always lock my doors using either the keyfob or keypad so it isn't a big deal to me.

Rather then disassemble the stearing colume, just stick a punch in that fourth hole under the key cylinder with the key in the run position and pull the switch out. Then you can put a piece of tape on the top of the cylinder & reinstall it. Shouldn't take more then 1 Min. if you have the tape ready.

Shockman, are you following Exposed's instructions I copied in post #14? That is the procedure for the 08 trucks.

Post #11 is for 99-07 trucks.

Okay I easily found a blue with grey tracer from column, but I'm scarred to cut it!! is it for sure the only blue/grey wire in that mess of wires, and will the only result be no more key chime???

That should be it. You can always splice it back together if it doesn't work.

Do you happen to have a picture of where you would put the tape? Also would you use black electrical tape, masking tape or what? I am concerned about the glue or possibly the tape jamming something up. This solution sounds the easiest without taking the column apart. Someone mentioned that the drivers door will unlock if you lock them with the lock button. I would assume that this mod is fooling the system into thinking the key is NOT in place? I would think that if it thinks the key is NOT in place it would not kick up the plunger on the drivers side door. It does this to keep you from locking the door with the keys in the ingition.....anyone know for sure about the door lock thing? Thanks, Dave

On my Honda minivan the yellow harnes and plug to the seats is the side impact airbags mounted in seat uprights. Be carefull!!

This might be a dumb question mtpocket but for your back-up beeper, do you have a cancel button on your dash below the stereo? Reason I ask is b/c my truck has one, push the button in reverse and cancel beeper. Maybe its just something on KR's, just thought I'd add my .02. Mine beeps when I first put it in R to back out of the garage. HTH
