The 1950 & 1951 serial numbers were a continuation of the 1949 numbers up to September 15, 1951. They will start with 9 then 7 or 8 for engine (6 or 8 cyl)then HC for F1 then the rest of the serial number.
After Sept.15, 51 the serial number will start with F the second digit is the truck (f1,f2,f3 etc)third digit is engine (H=6cyl R=8cyl) fourth is the year (1=51)next two letters are for the assembly plant then the remainder of the serial number.

Your VIN should be located at least three places. On the top left(passenger side) corner of the firewall stamped into a small data plate. Inside the glovebox door stamped into the rating plate. And stamped on the frame rail, passenger side near the motormount. If you need more info email me at mtflat(No Email Addresses In Posts!) I'm putting a 48 F1 back together at present - tim
