1951-52 Serial numbers

1951-52 Serial numbers
We have a current thread that was started to establish the cut off in serial numbers between 1949 and 1950. But that thread has actually evolved into a collection of information which mtflat has used to establish a data base for the 1948-50 trucks.
This morning I entered the information for my 1951 F1 and mtflat responded that he thought a separate thread should be set up for the 1951-52, so here it is.
I will establish a database with the information posted. Over the next week or so, I will try to gather the 51-52 information posted in the original thread to add to the database.

I'll start with my 51..
A few weeks ago I purchased a 51 F1 from a fellow member Brit_Wheels_Fan and I found that he never listed the info here. I actually know the info on the truck, but I wanted to post it so that it can be included in this 'data base' of sorts.
Serial number F1R1CH21718
F1= half ton short bed
R1= 239 cu in V8 (flathead)
CH= Chicago Plant
21718= Consecutive unit number
Firewall stamping CH D 16D 34J
CH= Chicago Plant
D- Color - Alpine Blue
16D= Production Date April 16
34J= Internal plant code

Boy, Joe, have you ever tackled a tiger. Especially when trying to make sense of the 1951 changes to the data plates, and with cowl stampings and firewall plates on early '51 trucks but not on late '51 trucks.
So here goes, starting with 1951s:
F3R1KC15275
Cowl stamped KC H 7(9 I think)213
Old style fire wall and glove box data plates
#9 3/12/51 scratched into the firewall
F1R1HM43475
Cowl stamped: 3 HM 28E91 No idea how to decode this
Marmon-Herrington Ranger LD7-4-43475
Old style firewall and glove box data plates
F3R1LU13899
Cowl stamped, but I'll have to find where I put it. Cab was too far gone.
Old style firewall and glove box data plates.
Marmon-Herrington R3-4-13899 (last archived single speed model).
Axle #1023
F3R1SP21892
No cowl stamping or firewall data plate.
New 1952 style glove box data plate.
F3R2HM31490
No cowl stamping or firewall data plate
New style glove box plate
Marmon-Herrington R32-4-31490
Axle R32-342
F3D2HM34050
No cowl stamping or firewall plate
New style glove box plate
Marmon-Herrington 6R32-4-34050
Axle R32-544

My 51 VIN
baldmustang out in Ca. I purchased my 51 F1 from Ishpeming MI earlier this year.He said he got it out of North Dakota. It had the words 'River Fresh" written on the cab. I do not know original color, but appears to be black. Serial #: *F1R1CH19936*
Found the serial # on the cab firewall, nametag, glove box nametag and on the frame near the right wheel.

R= 239 cu in V8
1= 1951
CH= Chicago (Build Plant)
19936= Consecutive Unit number*
*Based on the number this was built between Feb and April of 1951, should have the old Rating plate and it should also have the cowl stamping in the middle of the firewall just below the seam.
(Right now I have Chicago numbers 14776- Feb 1 and 21718- April 19)
BTW, what is the current color of your truck?

The codes on the lower right of the late style tag is essentially the same info that was stamped on the firewall. In the case of Ross' example, you have color code A, followed by the date code 2M (2 December) and the internal Ford production code, which today is no longer fully understood. Inside the serial number reads the model, year, engine and plant codes. The rest is pretty much self explanatory. It will be helpful in the future if we're tracking serial numbers, that we include the rest of the data tag info, especially the date code, if available, so it all makes sense.
Good on you, Joe, for tackling this.

Unless of course Ross' truck was built in December 1951. In which case the SU would be SUNDAY!

The last one I would assume, based on the number, would be May/June 1951.
