I just returned from my local International Dealer and purchased a set of fuel filters (IH Part # 1847170C92) and when I asked for the Drain Plug (IH Part # 2589259C91) they said they don't carry it. The salesman asked if this was for a Ford and if so they don't carry it. So, I drove to my Ford dealer and asked for the HCFM drain plug and gave him the IH part #. After 20 minutes of searching his computer, said "this part # is not a Ford part and we don't carry it". He asked if I needed the Ford fuel filters for $60 and I told him I picked up a set for $36 at the International dealer. He then went on to say I shouldn't use anything but Ford parts/filters and that it could void my warrantee, bla, bla, bla....<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
So, where else can I purchase the HCFM drain plug? Any online options??? <o></o>

Use the Int'l number at Int'l and the Ford number at Ford - see below.
Ford part number: 6E7Z-9C082-A
International part number: 2589259C91
List price is around $16.00
By the way... there other at least 1 if not 2 other threads on this topic (in the last 10 days or less)... all with the same info I just posted above... again!!
Ford dealer may have to look in their Blue Diamond or Blue Oval program to order. None carry it in stock. After 2 attempts... my local dealer found it (after calling the local DC center).
That is the IH part # I gave the international dealer. Are you saying I will have better luck at the Ford dealership??? I have read the posts on this subject the last few days, that's what prompted me to stop by the Int. dealer. As always, thanks for your info on this board. No need for !!!!!!!!!!!
My local IH dealer doesn't stock the drain plug either, but any IH dealer can order it for you. I've gotten 2 from my local dealer. One for me and one for a friend. Took about 3 days both times and they didn't charge me any shipping fees. The part is so small and light weight that it just "piggy-backs" on the larger orders. Now that's great service!
I'd suggest going back them and ask them to look up the part number and then order one for you.
As for the BS your dealer served you on the fuel filters, ask him to put his words on company letter head paper stating such. The fuel filter from IH vs Ford is the SAME filter made by the SAME people. It's just packaged differently and given a different part number, much the same way as the oil filers. Just go look at the countless threads on the Fram vs. Ford oil filter. Both are the same filter, just different packaging and a few dollars difference in price.
I know that the filters are the same, just thought I would share the BS the Ford parts guy was shoveling me. I'll continue to use the IH fuel filters at almost half the cost of the Ford ones. I'll re-attempt to order the drain plug at either Ford or IH with the appropriate part #'s. Thanks for all the info this site offers!

If you read about the HFCM drain plug in other posts... then just post your question into that thread. That way it keeps (to some degree) the same topic going. Your question and/or frustration about buying the HFCM plug does not need a whole new thread when others are only a few days old. Hey after a week or two.... I would understand... but then again, that is why there is a search function.
A nice replacement part is at http://www.forddoctorsdts.com/articl...icle-05-19.php.
This part has a thumbscrew that needs no 6mm wrench.
It is available through Ford. You MUST tell them it is for LCF Truck and it is an OEM part or they will tell you the p/n is no good. Once they get on the internet with they find it. Takes about a week to get it
The ford p/n is 9E7Z-9C082-A. They really can get it if you make them. The parts man where I got mine showed it to the mechanics, and he had to order 3 more.
