Just this morning I picked up the Drain Plug and Fuel Filter Kit at the IH Dealer (Lee Smith) in Chattanooga. The Plug (IH # 2589259C91)cost me $12.81 and the Filter Kit (IH# 1847170C93) was 35.54. Better than getting ripped off at the Ford Dealer IMO.
I just tried to order one and it says no parts found??? I used the ford part # under mechanical parts. What am I doing wrong? Thanks again for your help.
Unless the manufacturer provides the filters for you free of charge, you can use any filter that meets or exceeds OEM specs with out voiding any warranties. The dealer Bla Bla Bla was just that, Bla Bla Bla. They just want to charge you way more for the filters than what you can buy them for at your local auto parts store. I get mine at Advance Auto. And guess what? They are Motorcraft filters! They are the same part number, as stated in the owners manual, and identical to the ones that the dealer gets 20 bucks more for per set. Let them try to void this warranty! Same for the oil filter...
SFD512,
I hear you and agree 100%. Maybe Ford would be in the black if they were not trying to screw it's loyal customers by over pricing. Like I said $36 for IH fuel filter, almost $60 for the same Ford filter.
Open this link http://campaigns.ford-trucks.net/cam...s&bannerid=156
then click on parts catalog, then type this ford part # 6E7Z-9C082-A into the ford parts (it's in window # 2).
I just checked the site and it worked, it's $11 and change

Try $72 otd, from my buddy at the dealer.
I took it because the new baby was sick and WIF light on.
Just bought the spare from the local IH for 34.99 + tax.
That's like buy 1 get 1 free. 100% mark up.
Anybody need to know why they are called Stealerships?

ok, I got to speak up a little here, The dealerships cost for the filter from Ford is $43.00 List is $71.00 so 40% margin there.(list minus 40%) From my web site I would sell it for $52.00 I'm not sure what everyone here does for a living but whatever you do I'm sure you do it for a profit. Ford maybe a little high on the price but it is not the "Stealership" we are just trying to make a living like everyone else and you can't do that giving everyone free parts. That is why I have my web page so I can help FTE members at least save a few bucks while trying to make a buck for the store. bash away at Ford but us at the dealership are doing what we can with what we are given.
