I'm about to begin using a nicely restored stock 55 Ford on a fairly regular basis. I'm worried about the new wood in the bed. It will see a variety of weather and some light hauling use.
I'm in no way an authority on this subject, and am simply looking for suggestions on preserving the quality of the wood
Thank you
Forrest
to preserve it I would use a Poly Urathane or a Marine Varnish, just make sure it is UV resistent.
To protect the bed when hauling I would cut a piece of plywood to fit the bed and then glue a U-Hual blanket to the bottom of it to protect the finish. Any thick material would work but U-Hual blankets are extremly durable.

PS the wood kit manufacture should list a recommended finish.
