Body Damage- Dents

Hello everyone,
Writing this as I'm still mad from todays incident, now my truck really is a Dent Side .

Took the '78 and did some off-roading and forrest mudding. All was fine until I accidently rubbed the edge of a tree, and knocked into a tall stump. BIG MISTAKE: DO NOT TAKE YOUR 6th GENERATION THROUGH NARROW FORREST MUD TRAILS.

The damage:
-Larger dent and paint scrape on Passenger door edge below handle
-Same dent as above that continued onto the edge of the bed
-Small, hardly noticeable dent right below lock on Driver side, and small piece of trim popped off on cab, minor paint scrape.

Engine and mechanics are all 100% (from what I can tell), which is a relief, but now my truck is cosmetically deformed. I'm really mad because it used to be 99% straight with paint fading in just the typical spots, so never really beat up in the first place.

The moral to my story: Assess and throughly think about tight spaces when driving your truck. Also, when mudding take it slow and easy unless you are 1000% confident in YOU and YOUR truck's ability to navigate hills, puddles and especially narrow spaces.

I will put up some pictures tomorrow, and also would like some advice if anyone has any on fixing dents, paint scrapes, and putting trim back on.

P.S.: Does anyone know any places that are good for dent/ding removal?
Preferably a chain shop like Midas or Meinke or something, or some kind of shop in the Chicagoland area.

Oops....

Dang you luck, here is something to ease your pain.

If you take it off road its bound to happen, but once you get over the first dent, its game on.

You could get a replacement passenger door? And body work the rest?

I have a DD and a seperate woods/trail/mudder rig, so dents don't hurt as much now days.

XxWINxX94 ... we all do stuff like that once in a while. The week I got my '77 in 1986 I was out in the yard detailing it and wanted the spare out, and I had never had a 4x4 before, always 2wds. Well, I was up in the bed and decided to flip the spare out the side up against a bank. I'ld done same with my little SB before.

Bad move. Tire went out flippping, hit bank, bouced .... into pass door. Truck was pretty recently painted too.

Dang it ..... I'll never forget that feeling of "you big dummy".

That was in May of 1986 actually. I tried to fix ity myself, didn't do too bad, it helped that it was pass side. I was still unhappy .... and very pleased to get it all redone in 1989.

Now ... it's all "overdue" for a "refurbish".

... etc...
I don't know if it helps XxWINxX94 feel any better ..... but it did wonders for me. I always heard that the square headlights were unstable.

My 77 looks better already even as I sit here. Hell, it's even easier to live with that bent front bumper I got Saturday night in the '07 when "Bambi" ran into me on the way home from ice cream. It's due to get fixed the 22nd.

dang, i got a dent in every body panel. even the roof haha. I will squeeze it thru anything, and if it dont fit, run the tree down. if that doesnt work, then dent a panel to fit thru. I built the truck for strict offroad only. so not affraid to dent or smash the body up.

moral. if your scarred to dent your truck, keep it on the road.

Not scarred, see the roof damage? But like he said if you want to keep it nice, keep it on road or at do not attempt something you might regret later. Meaning after you get your truck fixed this time.
