I have read good things about this product in this forum. I've searched online and can't seem to find it for less then $399 out the door. Anyone have one of these that could tell me where I can get a good deal on one?
while diablo seems to make a good product (just from hearing ppl talk on here) BE CAREFUL with it as it has so many advanced tuning options that u can change as opposed to superchips and hypertech . I was at my dealership having new tires put on and was talking to their accesory guy and he said they have a 04 F150 in the back now getting a new 14k motor that the customer is having to pay for because he had it running so hot it grenaded the motor he said if the guy hadn't left the tuner in the console they probably wouldn't have noticed and ford would have had to get the guy a new motor so rule of thumb always unload your program and remove they tuner from your truck before having dealer work on it that way they can't claim you did it(even if you did)
I have the Diablo Sport Predator and I am very happy with the upgrade in performance. I've not found any for much less than $399 and that's about what I paid at my speed shop.
The speed shop recommend reverting to factory settings before getting your regularly scheduled maintenance done. I wrote down the tune I have installed and I keep a copy in my truck. I've had the engine light come on a few times but that was from not clearing the old trouble codes properly. Usually, it's a "lean fuel" code from occasional sudden accelerations, as I have a MAC air intake newly installed. My speed shop worked with me and was very patient in installing the tune and getting the air/fuel mix right and getting rid of the knocks and pings. I use mid-grade fuel and that's good enough for the truck.
Those of you with the Diablo Sport Predator.....does it come with a custom tune that you just download or are you guys going in and adjusting individual engine operating parameters? And does it come with more than one tune, i.e., an 87 octane, 93 octane, etc? Or are you paying extra for your custom tune at a Tuner/dyno shop?
The speed shop I bought it from set the tune for me. It has an 87 tune parameter and a high-octane tune paramater and one section for a custom tune. Diablo will write a downloadable custom tune for about $120, according to their website. Mine is using the 87 octane parameters and I use midgrade gas because it knocked with the 87 in it. The speed shop adjusted the tune when I had my air intake installed.

Thanks so it looks like the best bet is to find a Diablo Sport Predator Tuner and go in and have it done all together (inc. air intake).
Air intakes should not require adjustments to the tune. The mass air flow sensor takes care of them. You should not have any pinging with the unit if you leave its fuel settings alone. Too lean is going to cause problems and it sounds like they messed around with the air/fuel rather than just download the tune with the timing adjusted for 87 octane. This unit is plug and play and should not require any adjustment on a stock truck. It sounds like you speed shop screwed up somewhere because they shouldn't have had to adjust anything for it before and after the intake.
Hot Lap- The Predator comes with a 87 and 92 performance program. Don't waste your time, go with the performance program! The way it works is that you download the predator tune, then you can adjust the different parameters individually once the tune is loaded into your truck. As far as the webmaster's advice, my truck pinged when I ran it after the first tune. It only took an hour or so to get the truck to run how I like it. It's still the hottest tuner available!

Thanks for the advice. What I have now is the
Spark Advance: 2k-4k= -12, 4k-7k= -8
fuel table: 2k-4k= -22 and 4k-7k= -22
And I did get a trouble code saying it was too lean for banks 1 and 2.
I have a Gibson Single Exhaust, a MAC air intake and an AIRaid TBS. The Gibson and Predator were installed first and then the MAC and TBS a few weeks later. I do need to get the oil changed soon so I will reset it to factory for now.
