Does the 6637 actually clean?

I have heard so much hype how the 6637 sounds so good and is so cheap, but does it actually clean the fine silt floating in the air. I hear from professionals that high flow filters don't filter out the abrasive silt floating in the air. I installed an AIS to eliminate any question of this. I so bad want to change to the big 6637 for the turbo sounds however I am so afraid to get the bad stuff down inside the engine. Can anyone confirm the filtering ability of the 6637?

Thanks

I too went the AIS route because I wanted to be sure I was getting the best filtration, but have wanted to try a 6637 once. Everyone I have heard from reported clean intake to turbo tubes so it must be working.

Yeah it filters, dont let anyone tell you it doesnt! Keep the clamps tight just like every other filter. Those who have the AIS for some reason saw paying $200 plus dollars for a quiet filter. Yes it filters, i have proof of 5ppm silicon on my last analysis. Not trying to start anything here, but those of you with the AIS, what level of silicon was in your analyses?

One reason I am thinking of trying it is your 5 report, its as good as the AIS.

You'll have an AIS for sale.

The tubes are really clean after running the 6637 for 1000 miles now. Won't go back to stock - much cleaner!

I've run both the 6637 and now the AIS.
The only reason that I changed is I couldn't tolorate the intake drone. I loved the turbo spooling up.
Both filters kept the intake boot white glove clean. I couldn't find the slightest trace of dust.
There is some powder streaks on the intake wheel from the ultra fine powder that makes it's way through any filter except an oil bath.

Now an oil bath filter sounds intriguing, but I think it would need to be the size of a quarter drum to meet the demands of our PSD's.

I just switched over to the 6637 because I didn't like how my compressor wheel was looking while using the K&N kit.

Glad to hear that the 6637 cleans!

I'm curious to know what made you assume the AIS would eliminate any question of filtering ability.

Assume is correct Ryan.... I assumed because the AIS filter passed milspec for some government vehicles and it is also approved by Ford. Not that Ford does everything right however it was good enough for me. Not only that it had provitions for my stock sensors. That is how I assumed.... Not sure if I assumed right though lol. It seems very clean but hell I havnt even gone through my first element change. However the AIS is very quiet and I like the sound of the Turbo.

6637 is a "high" or "higher" flow filter because of it's size. The media is as dense as any other paper element.

I've never had a problem with dirty intake tubes while running the 6637. And, last time I pulled it off, it was pretty dirty on the outside.

That makes sense.

If you do start dying for a little intake noise, the 6637 does filter plenty well.

Does anyone know what the original application of the 6637 was used for? A tractor, forklift, big truck, industrial air compressor?
