Thanks hosemandc, now that we know that the 6637 was originally produced as a filter for dusty areas (think of the duty cyle and were it works for those air compressors) we know it should filter plenty enough for our trucks.
Ok, the 6637 aka 46637 aka donaldson b085011 filter is intended for use on Cummins B 5.9L (the same block that Dodge uses) in several industrial applications (air compressors and pavers mostly). The filter is in their "duralite" line of filters, and is defined by donaldson (the manufacturer) as for "Gas and diesel engines in light to medium dust conditions". It is also rated at a flow of approximately 475 cfm. So it is neither a high flow filter or a high filtration filter. You can find all the information about it at donaldson's website by searching for part number b085011.
I've had the same 6637 filter on for the past 12K-15K miles. My silicon levels are as follows, every 3000 miles from 150K: 6 (3000 miles on oil), 10 (6000 miles), 8 (3000 miles) , 10 (6000 miles), 9 (3000 miles).
Both my AIS and my 6.0L filter have yielded UOA silicon levels of 6ppm at 10,000 miles in very dusty operating conditions. The virgin samples I have seen of the same oil type (delo 400) typically come back at 5ppm. So my filters have allowed a net increase of 1ppm in 10,000 miles. That's pretty good filtration IMO.
