According to my contact today (Tuesday), there was a meeting on Friday about the release of these trucks, and as of yet, they will not be released. I will call back this Friday, to maybe find out more. I can't wait. I sold my 1999 Powerstroke last Thursday thinking I would get the new one this week .
I will keep you up to date, as I hear.
For clarification, there was no talk about any cancellation of the trucks, just that the '08s that have already been produced would not yet be shipped, until some corporate decision was made.

OK, I will start by saying I am obsessed with the '08 Powerstroke release. I ordered mine November 3rd while at SEMA and shortly thereafter recieved a ETA of build date 12/18 and approximate delivery of 1/1. As of 1/1 I still had no truck. I then called my dealer, he had no clue where it was, but said it had been produced. Then I called the Ford 800 customer service number, they said the same thing adding that it should be delivered 1/1 to 1/8. So, being unhappy with the answers I had been given, I ran a search for Ford telephone numbers on Google. After some searching and a few wrong leads, I came upon an individual very close to the knowledge of the release. According to my contact, my truck has been produced, back two weeks ago, but no trucks for general release have yet been authorized by Ford to release/ ship. She said that she thinks that the ship date for many of these trucks sitting there may be late week...but she did not know for sure. Another lady I talked to said that she believed that the big wigs from Detroit were going to be down for a meeting this Friday, and they may decide it then. I just wanted to keep everyone as excited as I am up to date. Yippee.
They'll probably be released right about the same time the lawsuit between Ford and Navstar is resolved..........
The wife and i were on our way to downtown Tampa yesterday. I happend to see a lot full of F series trucks near a rail road terminal.
Many were the 250's and up. Just thought I would tell ya all. I do not know what this means, but I remember Dodge did the same thing when they could not release thier new pickups for what ever reason.

the release date is delayed because you can't technically sell an 08 until February if you are calling it an 08. This is a Federal Mandate from what I understand.
QC problems, not related to the 6.4L is what is delaying shipment. Paint is supposed to be one of the problems. The comment I got was it looked like they were being painted with rollers.
