I Have A 68 Ford F-250 4x4, I Am Wanting To Put The Gas Tank Behind The Rear Axel. However I Have Looked Everywhere And Unable To Find A Tank With Could Capacity That Will Fit Between My Frame Rails That Have A Distinace Apart Of 28 Inches. Can Anyone Help???
Do a search on gas tanks, using the search this thread above your post on the right. I think some have used a Mustang tank, I'm not sure though. IMHO i like the tank inside and protected.
I mounted a 22 gal fuel cell in bed right behind cab. The inside cab tank looked like a swamp after 25 years off-road. If this was such a great idea ,why did they stop doing it.

I'm dealing with same problem on my 77 F250 4x4. Same frame width and a crossmember right in the area that a stock tank would go.
Like Jerry said in the last post, aerotanks.com
Their website doesn't show anything pre-1970, but the tank to fit my 77 will fit between the narrow frame. I'm sure they can get you hooked up. Tanks are expensive though, the one I'm looking at is 500.00
Fuel cells wouldn't be a bad idea also, the largest I found was 22 gal, but I wanted something larger. A bronco II tank will also fit between the rails.
Are you stuck on the idea that it has to fit between the rails? There are several tanks available if you are willing to adjust a little. Look at the dual tank trucks, or broncos etc. for donors.
