Sorry folks if that's incorrect information... I received from a gear manufacturer when inquiring about replacing my gears looks like we (Excursion Owners) need to be careful out there as aftermarkets are giving out incorrect information. I seem to always be told that the excursion is the same as the superduty... apparently not true. Glad I haven't ordered the gears yet. Thanks for all the clarification.
Assuming your truck is still stock you can also supply ford with your VIN number and they'll supply you with a build list. Found that mine had 4.10 gears and a limited slip. I requested mine trough the ford.com website.
Well it looks like i must have the 4.30 gears as when i am doing 60mph i am running 2000 rpm, i did manage to get the code of the diff today anyways. just in case.
The following is copied and modified from another site:
s 415b
301030b29
S = Sterling differential
415 = Model number
B = Revision identifier
I am assuming that the 4, as in 430 was rubbed off or covered. That would make for the following :
430 = 4.30 Gear ratio. If it was limited slip, the number would contain the letter L, as in 4L30
103 = Ring gear size. 10.5 inches. (Does it really say 103 or could it be 105?)
ob29 = Build date
--0 = Last digit in year of manufacture. In this case, 2000
--b = Month of manufacture. A=January, B=February, C=March, etc.
--29 = Day of manufacture
