Cool, I guess I should spend a little more time reading the articles us guys are putting up.

This new V-8 is suppose to have variable duration on the intake and exhaust valves. I was reading a review on some new C y engines, a new I-4 and an I-5 (yes, C y is planning on building a five cylinder engine). C y only has variable duration on the exhaust valve. Another example of Ford staying ahead of the competition.

i dont know, to me all these techno goodies in these trucks is ridiculus. what happened to trucks just being no frills work vehicles? its good that it has more power and all, but come on, the trucks are starting to have more technology at their core than lincolns have in their higest trim levels.

Progress Chuckman, progress. Oh, and the EPA and CARB forcing stricter and stricter emission standards. Yes, all those techno gismos make them more complicated and expensive tobuy and fix, but they are also suppose to make the basic design more efficient. So the money you save on gas can be better spent paying higher taxes, to support the EPA, or repair bills, or both.

dont get me wrong, these techno goodies are kool, just wish they'd try them out on something else, like say the next gen mustang. progress and all, yes, but the f-series is one of ford's best sellers, and if they change too much its place in the market may shift. highly doubtable, but you get my point.
at any rate, id still love to have an uneffeicient bigblock anyday.

Yet another example of Ford`s leadership! Everyones always telling me that ford sucks and yet when ford introduces one of its market-leading designs the other companies scramble to copy it! I know for example that the F-150 was the first full-size pickup to use a modular SOHC V8.:-X12

I think Ford is very aware of the fact that the F-150 has been the number one selling light duty truck for over 20 years in a row now. Ford hold something like 60% of the market share when is comes to light and medium trucks. If they make some major changes that turn out to be a problem, it will cost them market shares and they know it. I think a lot of this new technology stuff is being driven by government regulations for cleaner burning engines, which in my option is not a bad think unless it cut into reliability too much. We'll see, I'm about to put my money where my mouth is. I've ordered a new Super Duty F-350 with the new diesel and auto tranny. I'm betting Ford got it right the first time out. I'm breaking a major rule: never buy the first model year.
