I have recently purchased an '07 Crew Cab. When I got home, I realized it did not have the lower anchoring system, located in the back, for child seats. I previously owned a 1500 HD, which had the anchors. Is this normal that my truck does not have the child restraint anchor system?
Only the upper anchors are provided (along bottom of back window). You have to use the seatbelts for securing the child seats. Not as easy as the LATCH connectors, but still very functional.
Is there an "after market" option to adding the anchors? I am using the seatbelts for time being, but thought it wouldn't be an issue after getting rid of the oldest vehicle, the 2000 explorer.
You could get some uppers and have them drilled out. Then unbolt either the front seat bolts or the seat belt bolts behing the seat. If you use the seat belt bolts, put the seat belt loop on top of the anchor so it has some play to move.
Or, just get any ancho you like, some fender washers, bolts and lock nuts. Just go right through the floor with fender washers to disperse the load.
