Hello!
Regarding a 1999 Expedition...
I have obtained the tether anchor for a child safety seat from the car seat manufacturer.
Although my Expedition owners manual indicates that the anchor can be installed into the floor behind the middle row seat, I have no idea how to determine exactly where to mount the anchor.
Please help,
Thanks

Perhaps some information (a description, or even better, a picture) about the tether would enable someone on the bbs to answer your question more thoroughly.
John, head down to your nearest Ford dealership (you might want to call first). They'll be able to set you up with a kit......I'm pretty sure it's free.
When my grandchild came along, I went to my dealer and said I need a child seat tether. They installed it free. Seems they are supposed to by federal law upon the request of the owner, regardless of the length of time since you bought it. They don't include them on every new vehicle to save expense.
Yes, Ford should provide it and install it for free. The first service person I spoke with advised me that they could provide the part for free but would charge for install. At first i thought ok, I will figure out how to put it in but then I thought about it I told the Ford dealership that having to install it was BS and they better install it for free, they said yeah no problem and did it. good luck !
I installed a tether anchor on my 1999 Expy last summer. You will need a friend to tighten the bolt (one person torquing the bolt and the other underneath holding the mounting point). The instructions that come with the anchor are very well written and you should have no problem following them. As far as the dealer installing it for free, forget it. I tried to go this route.

Re: whomever gets under the Expy to keep the mount point in place...I backed up onto a set of ramps and cranked down the spare tire in order to get underneath. It made it much easier. You may not need to get on ramps, but definitely remove the spare tire for easier access.

Ford will install it for free since they get re-imbursed by Ford. I found this out with mine. The dealer gets re-imbursed for the harness and the install.
KeithE524, your dealer may not do it for free if they have a bunch of tards working for them that cannot install it in the time that Ford pays for. Sounds like they just bill the customer however long it takes to get it done which probably is more than what the manual allows for.
