is there any way to put the cold idle ona toggle switch so it stays on longer.??? and is there anyway to put teh glowplug thing on a toggle that way it doesnt have to come on all the time cuz i use my truck to deliver soo its shuts off alot thru the day and on and i dont even neeed the glow plugs it seemes i can just start up and it starts just as fast then if i let it cycle? i dont know.. just curious? thru the day that is i need them for the morning start or a cold start but even its if sits 1 hour it still starts right up.. ??? im worryin about it burning them out and the relay
I had my 86 for 10 years and only replaced the glow plugs once...cold starts were never a problem, never burned out the relay or the plugs....if your plugs come on and cycle, that means there are working the way the're meant to, so put your mind to rest.
Find a switched power from under your dash panel, run it to a switch, then the other side of the switch to the High Idle Solenoid on the Injection Pump... But cut the wire leading up to the high idle solenoid, and install a diode with band side facing towards the solenoid, then land your homemade idle circuit wire there (between the diode and solenoid). This will keep you from feeding power back into the circuit and also keep you from engaging the timing advance when you manual control is engaged. But the system will still function just like stock, ie. no change will be seen or felt.
go to local radio shack and get a (this is from memory) 4001 diode... I can't seem to remember the part number on the diode but it has a 4001 if I remember correctly...
