OK guys I've been watching the forum for a couple of days, and now I've decided to ask for help. I have a 2000 F-250 psd. Every since I bought it a year ago, every once in a while the WTS light would not come on and it wouldn't start, turn off the key and back on the light would come on and it would start like normal. Sometime around Christmas it started acting up and the WTS light would not come on at all, for 20 minutes I toggled the key to no avail, I plugged in the block heater and within seconds I toggled the key, the light came on, and it started up. I believe it was just a fluke, but it started. then a couple of months later on a cold rainy day it happened again, a friend came over with starting fluid and it finally started but would die if he quit with the starting fluid almost like it wasn't getting fuel, then it started and ran fine. Took it to the shop for Fuel filter, new GPR, new GP's, mechanic said valve cover Gaskets/harnesses were fine so he did not replace them. Seemed to be fine afterwards still the double key toggle to get light to come on then it would start, and then the rain set in .Now the darn thing won't start at all. On a hot sunny day toggle the ignition a couple of times and it starts, but it will not start at all right now with rain coming down. If I toggle the key on and off the light will come on sometimes for a second kinda flicker ,the GPR will click, then the light goes off quickly. I need some help.....things I have tried.... Checked all fuses for cruddy contact...Checked all plug in relays and rotated them around where possible...Took a screwdriver between two big post on GPR for around 8-10 seconds seconds to kick in glow plugs, screwdriver got extremely hot, but no start...Don't know where fuel bowl heater plug is to unhook it, so couldn't try that. ..I'm hoping you guys can help I just can't sink hundreds of dollars chasing a ghost, and we just had to cancel our camping trip because it won't start, and I have another one planned in 3 weeks...thanks Tony
First of all Welcome to FTE!! Someboby will chime in and we will find the problem! Possible ignition cylinder? I see you jumped the GPR, but have you jumped the starter relay? Just a thought.
how good are your batteries? Have you checked to see if you are getting power to the GPR? When you say it wont start, is it turning over well?
In my experience the wts light will come on whether the GPR is working or not. I am not sure what triggers that light. That may be the clue to your problem. Wish I knew, but someone will chime in with more knowledge!!
Excursion4X4....Thanks for the welcome! No, I havent tried the starter relay. Where is it located and how do I jump it? And by ign. cylinder are you talking about the key switch, and if so, how hard is it to swap out...thanks, Tony

The batteries are good and strong, I am getting power to GPR and it is turning over well just won't fire if light is not on...thanks, Tony
Here is an Ignition Switch Removal PDF. Get in there and make sure the connector is tight and there are no chaffing wires. If that looks good you may try changing the ignition switch. Click Here
If it were the fuel bowl heater shorting out it would blow fuse #30 under dash.

I agree. Don't think the fuel heater is causing this one.
PeysonPSD....thanks for the file I'll check it out this weekend. I'll recheck the fuses, I could have missed something. I'll let you know what I find...thanks, Tony

Check under there while you are cycling the key. See if things a loose.
FYI - The feul heater connector is the white one on back of fuel blow.
A corroded connection at the battery will stop a good battery from starting the engine.
It will provide enough amps to light up the lights, but as soon as you engage the starter everything will go dead because it won't provide enough amps to turn the starter.
