yea, 1993 was the last year freon was used. by adding some refrigerant (the correct type) the ac compressor should stop turning on and off........If its a bad leak that requires you to keep adding refrigerant every few months you need to have it repaired, ford had a recall on the seals in the line conections which leaked, Its that the problem it will be an inexpensive repair

You could do a retro fit.
But "Freon" is still available.
