The A\C clutch for last 10,000 miles or so has started to engage really (thump) hard. There is also a pronounced whine from the either the A/C clutch or the A\C compressor when turned on. The A\C system works great. I have search around this site concerning replacing just the clutch (if this is the source of the noise) with not much success. Has any one else had this issue? Any ideas / suggestions?
Thank you advance!!
Looks like I can get a new clutch for AutoZone for $77.00 and I would not need to discharge the system. At least that is what I have been told. There is only 2-3 inch in front of the compressor before the front header support so I am not to sure I can get the clutch off without having to discharge the system.
