The braces go through the grille and inside to the frame, they have nice little curvy peices that go over each brace and hook the aluminum grille together.

Thank you Banjo, you aced the data. Meanwhile, the big Dummy forgot to sign off here last night. So while the computer was online...I wasn't.
Only can add two additional bits of info...
Front Axle is a Spicer 446F...there are two versions, with or without Free Running Hubs....(outside of the hubs, the rest of the parts are the same).
Section 40A Parts list 137 w/o free running hubs.
Section 40A Parts List 138 w/free running hubs.

The DSO: Truck was special ordered through a NorCal Ford Dealer. The original selling dealer kept the paperwork, but so did FoMoCo. If another dealer phoned or wired (the good old days) Ford with the 6 digit DSO, Ford could tell them what equipment was special ordered.
This truck was special ordered with the platform body. Only 795 total were made..of those only 89 were 4X4's.
sounds cool. i have 64 f250 4wd but it was just a normal pickup and it has now been converted to a 352 engine by prevous owner. one question mine has the same gearing 4.56s and i was just wondering how hard would i have to run it to get 55 out of it. looking for rpm and stuff
Thanks guys, I will be picking it up soon, on the free running hubs, this does not have the hubs, they are always locked, not that it will be a highway traveler, but would it be worth it to go to unlocking hubs? And also, the transfer case, NP205 or was it a different manufacturer then?
Once I get it I will put some pics up! How hard are parts to find for this? I know it needs at least a fuel pump, carb kit, etc. stuff to make it run
Since only the hubs are different, while the rest of the front axle parts are the same (notice I listed the parts lists), I'd add free running hubs. These have to be changed manually.
Lemme check on the transfer case and see what the book says.
Yes she will!! Thanks for all the info Banjo and Numbers, I plan on it!! I would much rather drive one of my "ol beaters" (they get more looks and comments) than my former 99 or her 02, Simplicity comes to mind, once I have them all here, I will line them up and take some pics, her 02 was 50k+ ordered from Ford,,, ALL 3 of mine are $8300,,,,, go figure!!!Granted, we won't take them on a trip across the states, but when I was changing jobs, Bessie, my 66 was my daily, AND she took me up here 5 times for interviews, yadda yadda.. I would not hesitate to take her or Sid (77) anywhere I needed to go! And soon my 63.... I have to drive her to name her, so until I get a chance, she is just 63!
Thanks Numbers and Banjo for all the info,,,, I will be back for more!
Hey Pickupmanx2,
post some pic's when you get them. Sounds like an interesting new addition to your fleet! Also, curious if it's similar to the '66 F250 4X4 I just bought.
This I would buy...if Ford made one..but prolly didn't: 1965-66 Ranger Crew Cab.
That would probably defeat the purpose for which Crewcabs were bought then, Trying to cram as many workers into the truck as they could get to the site, bucket seats (which define a Ranger) would not make sense. I doubt if any were made..
