Question C-6 shifting

Got a quick question.. i have a 86 bronco..351w and a c-6.. just got it back from rebuild shop, had a transgo stage 2 put in and just the stock torque.. 15-1800 rpm.. when i am driving and i punch it in first, takes off like crazy but then when i shift into second the tranny will stay in first till i hit bout 4000rpm then it will snap into second, just want to check if this is normal.. i do notice that if there isnt a big load when i shift like around 18-2500rpm it will shift into second right away.. thanks.. p.s no kick down leaver installed from carb, was unable to mod it after i put body lift on.. is this really needed, or is it fine to manually shift down when torque and power needed.. Thanks everyone and i hope I included enough info here..

lokar cables have a c-6 cable for you. They are about 50 bucks and you probably want to put one in.
