1991 e350 blower motor

When I try to turn on the heat nothing happens. I suspect it's the blower motor. I have heard something about a resistor going bad, could that be it? Also where is the blower and what is the best way to access it? I think its in that box under the passenger side dash, but I want to double check. Thanks.

The blower motor on my 96 e350 is located under the hood on the passenger side firewall. What usually goes on Fords is the blower resistor which is located just to the right of the blower and slightly below. I just put one in mine and it works fine- prior to this it would only work on high speed but in your case it just may have burnt everything in the resistor. Two screws hold the resistor to the firewall under a quick connector.

If it doesn't work at all, it's likely the fan motor, it's easy to remove, just pull it and hook straight to your battery to test, I did a friends 95 this year, I was able to take it out sitting in my wheelchair, just leaned over the fender.

i believe the '91 would have the blower accessed from under the passenger dash like on my '82. take the cover off that round-ish boxy thing and go from there...

No, the blower IS in the engine compartment. Passenger side like Verne56 said. However, it is simple enough to test with a test light probe. just pull the connector and have the test light clip on ground. Key on, blower switch on high and slide control on heat, orange wire side, should light up like a champ. if it is off or even dim (compare it to what it looks like directly connected to the battery post) Then the problem is either the resistor, switch or fuse (you have checked the fuse, havent you).
If it lights up all bright and shiny, your motor is highly suspect. Problem here comes is the hoses that get in the way. Use a bunch of clamps or vise-grips to pinch off the ones you need to disconnect; this should save you a big mess and the trouble of draining and refilling the system. Don't go crazy, just a couple strategic ones and you'll be in the clear.
The blowers themselves are around 30 bucks... when you have the old one out, make sure the housing is free of debris too...
