guys I could use some help here!!! I have an 02 f-250 that I purchased used. it has a dealer installed alarm (which says Ford on it, I think that it is manuf. by Code Alarm?) The remote keypad which came with the alarm is very worn and cracked, but functions. I purchased a new remote from the dealership, but can't get it to program. The dealership can not get it to program either??? Also my factory remote (the remote that normally comes with the truck) will only lock and unlock the doors under certain circumstances. The dealer has reprogrammed the factory remote but it is still unreliable. Has anyone expereinced any of these problems, or does anyone have suggestions. Any help would certainly be appreciated!!
i dont have power locks, let alone keyless entry...you might try asking this in the superduty forum? sory that i cant help, but maybesomone down here will know?
Why is it every time I hear about this problem, its a 2002 truck. The VSM(vehicle security module) is located on the firewall right above the tranny hump. It has three connectors(some have two). There are two 10mm bolts holding to the firewall, if you are patient you can get to it with a 1/4 ratchet and small extention. Unbolt the VSM and lay it on the tranny hump, leave the connectors connected. The dealer will rape you if you let them remove and replace it. Then take the truck in and have them replace the VSM and program it. No, you can't program it your self. A new VSM and programming will run you about $100-$200, depending on your dealer. When you get the truck back bolt the VSM back your self.
thanks a lot, I'll take a look at it tomorrow. I wonder why the dealer didn't check it out today?? Maybe it's a blessing that they didn't, that probably saved me some bucks huh?

Probably because its a PITA, If they are looking for a code...there is none. I had to convince the service manager that was the problem.
I see guzzle92 (tha man)chimed in, good because he is the guy that helped me diagnose mine was bad. Check out his maintenance and mod link, its good reading!
