body lift

i want to put a body lift in my truck but they dont make one for the diesels because of the intercoolr pipeing. As far as I know thats the only reason, does anyone know if theres another reason cuz if not i could probably just build some new pipes right?

im not a body lift expert but I always thought that when you do a body lift the engine stays the same hight its just the body that gets higher. im also know ive seen diesel trucks on the road with body lifts. if for some reason im mistaken and what you are saying is true, why don't you look into a small suspension lift so you don't have to customize your intercooler tubes?

i agree with adam. i would not put on a body lift. you can easily get 2 inches of suspension lift on your truck by adding blocks from an f-350 in the rear and taking your rear blocks out and putting an add-a-leaf in the front and you will also gain some ground clearance

I also don't like nor would install a body lift on any vehicle of mine unless it was a offroad only truck but here is the thread I was think of
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...-my-truck.html

he has pics and you can ask him what is involved in his body lift. not sure if he put it on or not but you can ask.

The thing is, I already have a 6" lift but i want a few more inches without buying a whole new suspension lift

I've never owned a vehicle with a body lift...but it's my understanding that it's dangerous, or can be...

Perhaps the kits are not available due to weight limitations. These trucks are pretty heavy. I've really only seen them on jeeps, small trucks and other light duty vehicles.

Theoretically, a body lift would be safer probably installed than a suspension lift. With a suspension lift you lift everything about the axle, so you have a higher center of gravity, with the BL you are only lifting the body, not the frame so your center of gravity is lower.

Theoretically that might be right, but im not even sure about that. i think if you got a body lift for that reason it would be pretty

nothing personal, just what i think.

A body lift will raise your center of gravity considerably. I would not install one if it was my truck

a lot of times with body lifts you have to modify many things because anything attached to the body will now be in a different position. the intercooler and radiator will have to be moved. sometimes the steering shaft and parking brake cables have to be lenghtened. i dont know if all of this needs to be done on a superduty but ive heard they are a lot of work. i guess i just dont like them because it raises your center of gravity and will not help you off road

I think the previous owner put it on to clear the 36's. If i would have done it i would have went suspension. I am not about to take off the BL to switch to a suspension though.
