I have a 2000 ford ranger 4.0 and when I turn up the the air/heat the blower seems louder than normal. I noticed it about a week ago. I have heat but it doesn't seem like it's blowing like it used to.
Anybody know if this means the blower is getting ready to go?
How hard is it to replace, if it is the problem? (sorry I don't have the manual)
Mine got a leaf stuck in it once, which made a ton of racket. I had to unbolt the coolant recovery/windshield washer resevior and move them to get access to the bolts that hold in the A/C blower. Pull it out and see if theres something stuck in there, and if not go pay the $30 bucks for a new blower at the local auto parts store.
update:
well, I still don't know exactly what happened and why but last night I was driving home, and I usually keep the fan on low, well, I hit a bump in the road and I heard a weird noise defintely related to the heater/blower. So I thought ok, why not, I'll try and turn on the fan. Guess what? It is back to normal!!
Unbelievable. So, I'm thinking something is loose? or something is inside of it like the previous person stated.
Weird....
This thread is right up my alley. Maybe somebody knows more than me...
Ive got an 88 v6 4wd ranger... Man, my blower doesn't work on any other setting but high... hell, I don't care that low/med/med-hi don't work, I can hardly feel it comin out of the panel on hi anyway... maybe that's a problem too.
It sounds good one second, sometimes up to 3 minutes and then it starts making this horrible loud, squealin' sound like the motor or belt inside that box on the firewall is loose, or some bearings are going out on the fan. I hope it's something simple like a loose nut I can just tighten up... I don't wanna put anymore $cash$ into her... Ive changed the radiator, water p, therm., cap/rotor/wires/plugs, slave cyl, LUK P clutch, rear main sl, and tires... anyway. thanx if anyone can help and add to this forum that I know I must not be the only one with such problems. I'll keep searchin! thx fellas!
