Still haven't bought the new sensor and truck runs awsome with it disconnected - no stutter, easy starts etc - I almost hate to hook it up again - only negative symptom is CEL is on. Will check with advance on motorcraft part and advise on results. Thanks to all
Most of the members post that their CEL (MIL on Fords) say their light never comes on when they have a bad ECT sensor as the EEC does not know what the Temp of the engine is, maybe disconnected it will give one. Let us know if it goes out when you replace it.
I finally purchased a new ECT sensor and installed it. The check engine light now stays off and truck is running fine so far. The ECT I bought was from autozone and cost about $16.00. It appeared to be of much better quality than the one I took out. The new one is made in USA and is heavy brass and plastic. The faulty unit I took out was completely plastic and cheap looking. This truck forum is an awesome tool. I know if I took this to the dealer It would have cost hundreds more to fix.
Special Thanks to SUBFORD and everyone else who helped me on this.
