My truck did not come factory equipped with fog lights. I like the OEM style. Has any body installed them on there truck and is a wiring harness involved? Seems easy if there is a factory dead end plug on my truck that i can hook up to.
thanks, Tim
pullinair, not sure how much help I'd be but there are different wiring diagrams for the trucks that came equipped with fog lights vs. the non fog lighted trucks which leads me to think there would be no dead plug for you to hook up to.
Also, the factory switch for the fog lights is part of the headlight switch itself. You turn the **** all the way to the right, then pull out to turn on the fogs (Some later models you can pull out on the **** while on the parking light position). Not sure if you can pull out on the switch on the trucks that didn't come with fog lights.
I think it would be easier to get the factory fog lights and rewire them yourself with a dedicated switch (That way you can turn them on and off without turning on the parking lights or headlights themselves).
great idea. The price for fog lights is creeping down on e-bay. Its becoming more and more tempting. I think i can handle wiring it up , toggle and all, but i have to go out to the truck in the morning and see if there are any mounting holes to bolt them in.
Is it a bad idea to wire straight into the low beams? Would that draw down current to existing head lights?

The factory fog lights bolt up to the back of the front bumper incase you already didn't know that, so if you're looking for mounting spots look on the backside of your bumper.
If you are wiring up a toggle switch, I don't recommend wiring or splicing into the factory harness at all; I would run my own wiring to a relay and fuse to the switch then back out to the fogs.
If you splice into the factory harness, the voltage traveling through wire would essentially be the same however the added amp draw through the skinny factory gauge wiring probably wouldn't be a good idea.
they sell a complete kit on ebay for 99-03 trucks that did not come with fog lights. it runs about $250. There is also this one Item number: 110068259189.
AFAIK, we would have to drill the holes and fab the bumper a little to get the OEMs to fit. I have been thinking about doing this for a while but dont know if I should go OEM or aftermarket like Item number: 270068464713

I've read somewhere where the ground for the foglights is run through the low beam light? It's something like that. Either way it causes problems with high/low beams. There is a fix, but still better off wiring it seperately with a seperate fuse.

FWIW, My truck didn't come equipped w/ fog lights and I have found a dead end factory connector under my hood which looks like it's for fog lights. Plus my headlight **** has the pull out feature.
