I have a 02, XLT,V6, 4x4,auto, picked up a performance chip.I have been trying to locate the Air Intake Temp Sensor. It is the one with only 2 wires, can anyone help? Thanks in advance.
I have a multi pin plug on the intake tube, just after the air filter box, and the throttle body has 2 different plugs with 3 wires each. The directions say it must be a 2 wire plug. I don't see any. I think only a 02/03 will have the location that I am looking for.
I would be hard pressed to call it a chip. It is more like a resistor with a piece of shrink tube on it. I is to improve the gas mileage. How much it will improve, will remain to be seen. That is, if i can hook it up like the directions state. Spend a little, to save a little.
That's why I put it in quotation marks. They've been sold on eBay and other places, and are designed to fool the EMC. Don't be surprised if the only difference you see is lousy gas mileage.
Right now, the only thing that is being fooled, is the location of the plug, so I can plug this thing in. Then we will see if I am the fool for trying it. Any point to look at, would help.
Steina, no I did not. Went to 2 diff auto part stores looking for info on how to hook up the "chip", no help. Went to the ford dealer, asked at the parts and service counter, was told that the Intake Air Temp Sensor is now part of the Mass Air Flow Sensor. All that being said," Will not work." Going to draft up a letter to the sellers of the part, And ask for a refund.
