I have a 1997 F350 Crew Cab, Long Box Dually. It has the 7.3L PS with 195,000 miles. All original equipment except cold air intake, superchips program, and 4"exhaust. I replaced the CPS after reading some threads on this site and found out what was making my beast shut off erratically sometimes. But now only a few days after I installed the new CPS it has a hard time starting back up when I shut it down after driving for a while. It turns over but doesnt fire. It starts just fine when its cold out, plugged in or unplugged. But it has started to not want to start after she has been running. Anybody know whats up?? Thanks for any help.
fuel filter? i had that issue too, it would start up but after a while it would not start, then i got it to start and it would not start again even after running for a while. check the filter.
I pulled my IPR, disassembled it and thourogly cleaned it with solvent and lubed it. It was prettty gummed up with debris and sot from the oil and was probably not opperating the way it should. It appears to be clean and free to work properly but the O rings look fine. They are not loose, swollen or worn or damaged in any way. Any thoughts??
I changed the O rings on my IPR. I then proceede to re install it. hooking all of the things back up that I unplugged to make some room. I then proceede to put the fuel pressure regulator back on because I figured I would clean up that screen as well. I got everything back in order and the engine cranks but will not fire. Not even close to wanting to fire. Any ideas guys?? Its almost time for me to throw in the towel and drag it to the shopp.
did you refill the high pressure oil reservior? you need to remove the allen head plug directly above the IPR on top of the reservior and fill it full with engine oil. Then crank. and it still may take a good while to start but just cranks it 30 second wait then another 30 sencond and wait until it starts.
well I checked the oil level and it was full. all connections good. I caled a local diesel shop and the mech was super cool. he said I have air in the HPOP lines and I need to just keep cranking the engine over to bleed the air out of the system, but its going to take a lot of crankin'. so now I am cranking this beast and re-charging the batteries in the hopes that it fires up.
