Sometimes while driving my accelerator pedal stops working. The engine RPMs drop to idle and the truck coasts to the idle rolling speed. If I quickly release and re-apply the pedal it works again. If I slowly go from the point where it stopped working to full throtle nothing happens - it stays at idle. It seems to happen under 55mph, espetially in slow (under 30mph) stop & go traffic. Could this have anything to do with the transmission? I had it replaced with a rebuilt unit & thats when all these problems started. 2002 7.3 excursion with Banks Otto-mind, Big mouth wastegate, K&N filter, Banks exhaust. Thanks in advance for any help.
Sounds to me like your Throttle pedal assembly went out. They can be found on the internet for a cheaper price. If your problem is still intermittant and you can still drive some and get away with it, i would go and buy one cheaper on the internet. You could always go to the dealer and pay 2-3 times more $$.
As long as the plug style is the same. Starting in 02 some trucks have 2 plugs and some have 1. Just look at yours and see how many connectors are on the pedal assembly and then get that style.
