On my way to work this morning I noticed my accelerator pedal does nothing the first inch or so. Otherwise It works totally normal, smooth acceleration through it's travel. I nail it I can get 19lb of boost so no prob there. I did pressure wash under the hood, I spilled trans fluid while flushing my powersteering. Reminder don't spill $9 a quart fluid. So I get about a mile from work and the pedal starts working normal! I checked and pedal sensor did not get wet, the plug is not loose, any ideas? Is my pedal position sensor going bad? Is there a plug under the hood that could have gotten water in it ? Has this happened to anyone else?

It could be dirty, bad contacts or loose connection on the IVS (Idle Validation Switch). The IVS contacts are normally open and the PC needs to see them close before it will respond to the TPS signal.
If you have the 2 connector pedal it looks like this.
If it is a dead spot in the TPS see this LINK for TPS replacement info.
My PPS is acting for 2 years. I already got 2 new replacement, that fit right in and should work, but they did not. Per my checking the only one that will work is coming with whole bracket from a dealer for premium price.

Do you have the same setup as in the link I posted?
Maybe it is the IVS. It's just a plunger type switch and maybe you can clean it.
I have an E99 and just changed the TPS. It is under 40 bucks through Parts Guy Ed.
On my way home it's acting up even worse. I called a local auto parts store and they can get me one made by doorman for $50 in the morning. Anyone have any experiences with this brand of sensor? Thank you!!
Howdy all, Ive been lurking for a while, Thank you for all your great posts, advice and pics. This is a great site!
I have an '01 F350 7.3L and I would like to replace the pedal positioning sensor. Ive called Ford with my VIN number (late build) and they quoted me $197. Does anyone know if the Dorman 699-203 will work with my truck?
I've probably had to replace my pedal sensor 2-3 times in the 8 years I've had my truck. It's really frustrating when you pull out in traffic and your pedal goes dead lol! I could always pump mine a couple times and it work again but you never know when it's going to go plum dead stick on you. I've not had to put one in my truck in a year or so hoping I'm done having issues with it.
