In October I bought a 95 f-150 4x4 300 i6. I was driving down the street the other day and the truck pulled to the right and then back to the middle again. I am trying to figure out what it could be. I had two different places take a look at the front end and all said that it was tight. this was before this happend.
any ideas?
I had my boss (ex mechanic) say that it could be a belt that changed possisions in one of the tires.
your boss may be on to something. I had a car do something like that one time and the alignment shop found a tire had seperated. Try switching you front and rear tires around and see if it goes away. Tires will do strange things, especially larger ones.
If you have manual locking hubs, it's pretty simple. Lift one wheel, lock the hub, and spin. You might want to also turn the steering wheel all the way left and right while doing this. If there is any binding while the wheel spins, you have axle u-joint issues.
I had auto locking hubs and this was hard to track down for a novice. What I ended up doing was, pulling one of the tie rod ends off the knuckle. Then, I turned the wheel left and then right. I could barely turn it by hand, but felt no resistance in the steering wheel while the truck was running. Power steering.
