We usually charge an hour for most vehicles to change the alternator. We get .6 an hour for charging system tests. That is the standard charging system charge for all vehicles in the Motor guide. We charge 75.00 per hour. We also charge a shop materials fee and tax on the parts. We techs might get 25.00 of the total labor for that job.
Its great that you can do your own work but sometimes you just have to be the victim and be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I dont like to have to pay to have my furnace at home repaired or the refrigerator but sometimes you just have to pay. I do 95 percent of all my own home and auto maintenance too. Sometimes my wife ends up wishing I didnt though in the final result... LOL Heh you cant be everything at all times.
