"A turbo spins very fast; most peak between 80,000 and 200,000 RPM (using low inertia turbos, 150,000-250,000 RPM) depending on size, weight of the rotating parts, boost pressure developed and compressor design."
Well Dave, my 'homemade' compression tester only goes to 500 pounds so not much point trying it with that one. May have to rig up some hydraulic stuff.
And if you aren't coming out here for the big IDI meet next month, I think I'll have to pass on coming back there too.
The work load we have right now will not let me come out, and my snow contracts would all be gone when I got back if I happened to miss a snow storm while I was gone. Winter is not a good time for me to leave town farther than a couple hours away.
I do wish we had people in the WV chapter that would post as much as you NW IDI post has generated. We had three posts since 12/5/2006.
I have an ATS on my '86. It's my first experience with a turbo. Winds up real nice when I put my foot into it, even with nearly 113,000 on the odometer. Banks is a very well known, respected name in turbos as well. So, in deference to both, I didn't vote in the poll. Either one seems to work well on diesels.
