Given the divided nature of the group, I'd go for price and availability, who can get you what parts in Yellowknife when you need them. Me- I like my headers, the oil doesn't go stiff in them at -40.HAHA

Well to tell you the truth, I'm not really interested in buying parts up here because they're so damn expensive that I'd rather snoop around on ebay or make a few calls down south.

You know how much I like your KISS approach, KJLYPW. Been doing the same myself. No headers, but a MUCH improved exhaust, dual intakes, ram air, all these things have made a BIG improvement in the way mine runs & pulls.

BUT, when I drove the turbo-ed one I just bought, the difference is just amazing. And its one of the older non-wastegated Banks turbos that only makes 10 PSI tops. I tell you what, this second truck I just bought needs quite a bit more work than the one in my signature does, but with performance of the turbo, I'm still leaning HEAVILY towards keeping it and selling the non-turbo. It's that big of a difference. Of course the fact that it is 4WD is a big plus too.

Once you drive one with a turbo you'll see what you've been missing.....

As far as reliable/dependable, Banks, ATS, Hypermax, would most likely be about the same.
Personal preference, I like the ATS system. I've installed both ATS and Banks, older systems (10 years). The ATS install was easier and I thought looked better. The ATS also seemed to spool up quicker and have a bit more boost. That might be nothing more than driving style though.

To sum it up, ATS for me.

I chose other because i don't know what kind my truck has. All i know it sits on the drivers side of the truck and doesn't seem to have much boost till 1800rpm. then she gets up and goes.

Cheaper I have a wastegated Banks turbo (sidewinder) on my 73 F250 7.3 I installed myself. It only develops 10 PSI max WITH the wastegate. Banks tells me that is all there should be because it was originally a NA and they don't want me to blow my heads. I'm VERY happy with mine. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

How the hell would more than 10 psi blow your heads? Thats like as much pressure that comes out of your sink!

well think about how an IC engine works.....
thats 10psi of air compressed BEFORE the 22.5-1 compression and adding fuel.

it has nothing to do with age.
it has more to do with compression ratios.

big difference between 5-1, 13-1, 22.5-1
