Cool never ending problems... fuel now

i have had so many problems with this truck... its been down for about 8 1/2 months now... some one please help.. a while back the truck started studdering and jumping with absolutley noooo power... ran like a bad fuel filter.. replaced it ran okay for about a day but still not the best...replaced the fuel pump with kwick's vw adaption and ran okay for a couple days...i just tore some stuff off the engine to tap into the fuel rail on the passenger side head to get a pressure reading.. there was a lot of air in there figured this might be my problem .. air lock in the system because it is running like air or a plugged filter... read the pressure it was up around 70 with truck not running but key on to power pump.... what should the pressure be????... and when the pump shut off the pressure blead off... should that happen?? or is there a bad check valve??.......im praying for a mirracle

Pressure should read close to the same at idle as it does with KOEO. So if it's reading 70 before you crank, and close to that with the engine running, then everything is fine. When you shut the engine off, yes you will lose pressure and it's normal.

Also, air at the end of the rail is normal. That is why there are regulated return kits available to upgrade the fuel system and get rid of that problem. It's a bad design from Ford, but shouldn't be the cause of your problem.

Are you still having the same studdering problems? Did you check for any stored codes in the PCM?

Your truck would barely run if fuel pressure was 20-25. Most trucks come from Ford set around 48-54 psi. There are some that come higher. International runs these engines at 70-75. The higher pressures give you better throttle response, and a quiet idle.

Get your diagnostic tool and pull the codes, then you'll be able to troubleshoot better. Right now you are kinda shooting at the hip.

In addition to what Pocket is saying about the codes, the air in the fuel rails needs to go. Have you done the Hutch mod and gotten rid of the quick connects?
