Another chip question

Planning on getting a DP chip this week but was wondering something. My truck currently has the stock 265/75/16 tires but will be going up to a 35" a couple months. Should I wait until the tire/wheel upsize? I may not be thinking correctly, but was under the impression that the change in wheel speed would throw off the parameters of the shift points if I order the chip and indicate stock wheel size. Sorry if this sounds off, my brain is a little mushy this morning. Thanks in advance. Should I just fill out the form with the larger size indicated.

Hi, welcome to FTE, best place on the net for fords. If you are thinking of running the 35" tires and possibly switching back occasionally, you will want to purchase a Superlift Truspeed. I just bought one, and i installed it last night. Im thinking i have a power or ground problem as the speedo won't move. However it does have the ability to switch between two preset sizes if you want to go that way.

I was going to try tomorrow but my work schedule is kinda hit or miss when I can get to the phone. Figured I'd give it a try here while I've got some time. BTW, already have learned a ton on this site, lots of good info here!

Welcome!

Jody would recommend what strokin_it7.3 posted. He would also say that if you can get your speedometer recalibrated by either a Dealership (not all will or know how to do this) or someone with a good scan tool such as a NGS or genisis can recal the speedo for you. If you want to know how to do it with scan tool give us a call for the directions. I will email you a pdf.

Diane

So basically the installed tune isn't based on any particular tire size. As long as the speedo reads correctly I'll be in good shape when I upgrade (as long as I recalibrate).
