The stock bulbs are 9145 and 40 watts. If you are going to use another bulb in their place, use a 9006 bulb. It has the coating on the tip of the bulb and is 55 watts (no matter what it says it equals, it is not 110 watts). You're still taking your chances using it.
is300wrx: Do you have a pic of the beam from your HIDs up against a wall so we can see the pattern/cutoff? I'm just wondering if it is as bad as the units I've had experience with. There is a newer SuperDuty driving around with them in the 9008 version and they are very annoying, haven't seen them in a new F150 though.
I can post pics later. The only pics I have of the HIDs is my avatar.
PS. I think I was one of the first to try out the HID system in the newer F-150 and I love the difference. I have Xenon lighting in all of my cars and I just can't go back to the obsolete technology of halogen.
You need to watch putting higher wattage bulbs in your fogs. I have a 2006 F150 Supercrew XLT and my foglight lenses started to melt when I put 42 watt bulbs in, factory is 40 watt. I switched back to factory bulbs and I need to replace the lenses sometime. You have to watch the plastic lenses, I guess they can't handle the heat.

From what I see, the newer round fogs, 2006 and up, have less air room for the hotter bulbs to not be able to dissipate the heat. The rectangle fogs have more room and people are not having the problem you mentioned. It is definitely a known issue of melting lenses and wire harnesses by putting in a hot bulb in the aftermarket industry, but I guess people with the square fogs are having better luck.
I added a Westin Bullbar to the front of my '06 150 and installed a set of KC Highlites "daylighters" and hooked them up so they come on with the brights, believe me, I live in elk country and now I can see 'em waaaay out there. Also a good looking addition to your Ford.
Do you have any pictures to the truck with the Bull Bar on it, I was thinking about adding one to mine.
