I replaced the stock bulbs with Sylvania Silverstar's, at Advanced, and for both headlamps and foglights it cost me about $60. I think it has made quite a difference.

Probably the best combo out right now is the Sylvania Xtravisions (instead of Silverstars) coupled with an upgraded wiring harness to get more voltage to them. In combination they make a pretty good difference.

Stay away from blue tinted bulbs and stay away from aftermarket housings. The blue tint will filter out yellow light (it won't add white light, it will just seem that way from the lack of yellow). Go with clear bulbs, don't buy into the hype. I've seen too many complaints and had personal issues with aftermarket headlamp housings to give them a try.

KC lights

I added a Westin Bullbar to the front of my '06 150 and installed a set of KC Highlites "daylighters" and hooked them up so they come on with the brights, believe me, I live in elk country and now I can see 'em waaaay out there. Also a good looking addition to your Ford.

I was amazed at how much more bright the Silverstars are in comparison to my stock lamps. Whiter light and much, much brighter.

I put in both fog and headlights, big difference.

Silverstars are one of the best and easiest upgrades you can do! Well worth it. Advance Auto Parts has 'em on sale, in the store and on-line for 27.88 plus there's a 5 dollar rebate.

I've tried both in several applications. The Xtra's work better. No doubt. Filtering your light of yellow will not help you see.

And yes, I'll 2nd getting some driving lights to augment your high beams.

if you want more brightness, go my route. I have a 8000k HID convesion system with Sylvania Silverstar 9005 lights in the fog....If that is not enough for me, I turn on my 2 off road lights on my bull bar....Talk about bright!!!!The headlight conversion is a DAY AND NIGHT difference.

the fogs you can get at any local parts store for like $30. The HIDs cost me $300 and change but you can get them off ebay for around $200 now adays. Good luck and you will NOT regret it.

^^The fogs are 9005? Nice, I have a set of 3800k PIAA bulbs a friend gave me a long time ago for another truck I had. I believe stock are 60w and these are 110w. Anyone know if I can run these safely without burning the harness? Thanks!

fordtruckman: I agree if you're lookinf for the brightest light on the market, HID's are the way to go.

The fogs take 3145 I believe but the single filament high beam bulb, 9005, fits in there perfectly for more wattage. Stock wattage I believe are 40 watts and to put something in that is 110watts, you are pushing it. I think I read somewhere that someone melted their lense by putting in a high wattage bulb.

PS I had a buddy couple years back in his integra burn out his wire harness by putting in crappy blue bulbs that put out 110watts...It cost him over $400 at the dealership to get a new harness put in.........he eventually listened to me and got himself HIDs and never looked back
