Maybe its possibly installed with the sending unit 180* off?? Try removing it from the IP and see if you can get the readings to work out right, my connector plug is forward of the TPS mounting screws. If not you need a new sending unit.
Idle to WOT is only about 1/4 revolution of the shaft, can you get it to adjust to the right specs.
take it back off check the voltage it should be low then.. you have to make sure the square part on the shaft is in right you may have to twist the tps a bit to make sure it engages correct..
I don't know, but is it possible the FIPL (TPS) you have is the incorrect part. Does anyone know if there is a differance between an older diesel part as compared to a newer one off gasser or PSD?? One other thought, confirm you are measuring voltage from a probe slipped in along side the middle wire with the positive side of the voltmeter, the ground directly to negative post on battery, or in other words your not just measuring voltage drop across the entire potentiometer by selecting wire 1 or 3 as your ground?
There are different TP sensors some turn clockwise somr counter clockwise check to see which way yours turns and check the end of the throttle to see if they match
CJ, No pics because it's dark out. Its easy to find. Its mounted on the drivers side IP and has a terminal plug coming out one end. It's right over the advance lever.

Interesting. Sounds like the same mounting location as the VRV for a truck like mine with the C6. That would make sense, since it essentially does the same thing for the E40D that the VRV does for the C6 - determines the throttle position for purposes of controlling tranny shift points...
ok put the neg. on the battery this time, pos, on middle got the right reading now,set to 1.2v trany shifts much better now thanks! sombody else said you can go all the way to 1.4v to get the tcc clutch chatter out but be carefull might set default mode.
