i got a 360 to put in a 71 f-250 finally and i need to swap my intake and exhaust manifolds so now i need to know the torque specs and the order to tighten them can anybody help me with these or tell where i can find them on the web? i don't have a book and want to do this soon. yes i gave up trying to put my ft motor in and got a 360 block with heads so i have to install the rest from my old motor. oh i did accidently paint the block in places where the water pump and fuel pump go, so is rtv silicon ok on top of painted surfaces or do i have to remove the paint there?
You may wish to add exhaust manifold gaskets, as by now there's prolly some warpage present. For originality...replace the heat shields too. The aftermarket gaskets can be gotten from Fel-Pro or Victor.
Heads: exhaust facing you are (top 9,5,1,3,7 bttm 10,6,2,4,8) 70lb, 80lb, 90lbs
Intake: dizzy to the right (top 4,7,1,11,9,6 bttm 5,10,2,12,8,3) 32-35lb in seqnce
Exhaust (no sequence given...start at center go out..18-24lb for 8 bolt vert pattern
Now as to using the FT intake/exh on the FE engine..is that what your doing ? If so uhhhhhh..I'd make another pick/n pull run.. these are way to easy to come by and will assure you little or no BS comes out of it.
sorry guys i wasnt clear the ft motor is out of the picture im simply swappig a 360 block with heads have a 390 in new truck with rod noise so swapping the rest on the 360 block and putting back into the 71 f-250 just have to swap my intake, ex man, water pump, fuel pump, alt, pw steering pump, and starter.pics in gallery
Well it seems like your on the right track here. With it out of the truck and all you have to do...I'd still be inclined to take it apart, mic things, glaze break it slap new rings in it, check bearings etc.. beats doing it over after the fact. If you are not in dire need of the truck it's just well worth the wait. Glad you opted to pass on the FT, I'd sell it and use the $ for needed parts for the 1rst FE. Good Luck with it....
