Are you sure Bob that k&n is the only one producing an intake for the 2.3 duratec in a ranger ? I don't dout you, it just seems airaid, or afe, somebody would do one besides k&n. I know there's several out for the focus duratecs, not that it helps the ranger guy's.

Wendell, unlike you, I wanted to keep the original poster from wasting his money!!! If he was inquiring about an intake for a 2.3L, he obviously has
been misled into thinking he would get a big increase in performance, which
WILL NOT HAPPEN!!

As far as i know K&N is the only one who makes it for the ranger duratec, unfortunately the ranger is overlooked as far as available applications.

It looks like the only other model that fits 2.3L Rangers are the Volant intakes but it doesn't come with the closed box so it's not as nice as the Volant that you get for larger engines.

I know countless K&N fans, i prefer Volant, but for this model Ranger, the FIPK would be my go to air mover.

OK, I see, I just thought I seen more, must just be v6's I'm looking at.
There's a lot of people with intakes that belong to fte, I've yet to here anyone claim they were a turbo charger, but have heard people say they like the sound, or throttle response, some like the boost, others say it smooths out the engine, or does nothing. They have that right because they have the product and can give opinions on it. I don't just mean here in the ranger forum either, I've followed you through the whole forum, from the f-150's to the super duty's and beyond bashing mods, any and all mods. You can't be speaking from experience, cause you have none. It isn't any of your business what people spend thier money on. Would it make you feel better if they were buying beer or drugs with it instead. When you run the sponsers off, are you going to foot the bill ? I guess you'll be just as happy to close the forum like you do performance threads. We had a deal that we weren't going to bump heads on performance treads, but here you are, speaking on a subject that you hate. Most people stay away from things they don't like, but then they don't have an agenda to save the world from performance mods.

I stand corrected, Volant does offer an intake for the 2.3, and its considerably cheaper than the K&N.

If it were my truck, i would go ahead with the Volant

The volant for the 2.3 is an OPEN FILTER design. Volant says in the description that it comes with a heat shield, if so, its not pictured in the item picture so I couldnt say for sure.

Volant uses an oiled cotton gauze filter similiar to K&N.
